Help With Printing
Having trouble printing one of your Little Spark Company resources? Most printing issues can be resolved with a few simple steps. Start with the recommendations below, then work through the section that matches the problem you are experiencing.
1. Start Here
Before troubleshooting, save the PDF file to your computer and open it using the desktop version of Adobe Acrobat Reader rather than printing directly from your web browser or another PDF viewer.
Make sure you are using the most current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you use a Mac, open the file with Adobe Acrobat Reader rather than Preview.
Once the file is open in Adobe, try printing a single test page before printing the complete resource.
2. Being Asked for a Password?
Little Spark Company PDF files do not require a password to open, save or print.
If your computer is asking for a password, the file may be opening in a different PDF viewer or application rather than Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Try the following:
-
Save the PDF file to your computer.
-
Make sure the current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader is installed.
-
Open Adobe Acrobat Reader first, then open the PDF from within Adobe.
-
On a Mac, avoid opening the file in Preview. Instead, right-click the file and choose Open With → Adobe Acrobat Reader.
-
Try printing a single test page.
3. Black Boxes Around Images
Occasionally, black boxes may appear around images when a PDF is printed from a browser, Apple Preview or another PDF viewer.
In most cases, the problem can be resolved by printing from the desktop version of Adobe Acrobat Reader:
-
Make sure Adobe Acrobat Reader is up to date.
-
Save the PDF to your computer.
-
Open Adobe Acrobat Reader.
-
Open the saved PDF from within Adobe.
-
Print one test page. If the test page prints correctly, you can continue printing the rest of the resource.
4. Still Seeing Black Boxes? Try “Print as Image”
If black boxes still appear after following the steps above, Adobe Acrobat Reader includes a Print as Image option that may resolve the problem.
In Adobe Acrobat Reader:
-
Choose File → Print.
-
Select Advanced.
-
Check Print as Image.
-
Click OK.
-
Print a test page. If the test page prints correctly, continue with the rest of the file.
