HOW THE ACTIVITY WORKS

Choose a bead house and place the corresponding number in the circle at the top.

Children then arrange pairs of bead bars so that the two quantities combine to make the house number.

For example, the number 4 can be built as:

• 4 + 0

• 3 + 1

• 2 + 2

• 1 + 3

• 0 + 4

The same hands-on process continues through the houses from 1 to 10.
