Van Gogh's Flowers | Art Cards, Flower Matching & Colouring

Explore Vincent van Gogh's vibrant floral still lifes through art, real flower imagery and colouring. More than a traditional artist-card collection, this set invites children to identify flowers in paintings, search for small visual details and extend their observation through art-making.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

• 12 art cards reproducing van Gogh floral still-life paintings.

• 12 enlarged 'I Spy' detail-circle cards.

• 16 real flower cards for comparing flowers with the paintings.

• 12 flower colouring pages.

• Presentation instructions for art-card matching, detail matching, real-flower matching and colour matching.

HOW TO USE

Begin with a selection of floral paintings and invite children to name colours and flowers they recognize. Match each magnified circle to its source painting. Introduce the flower cards and ask children to find the real flower that corresponds to the subject of a painting, with more than one match possible for some flowers. Use the colouring pages for careful copying, experimenting with colour or an independent art extension. Optional separate colour tablets can enrich comparisons of each painting's palette.

SKILLS & LEARNING

Plant recognition, comparative observation, visual discrimination, artistic vocabulary, colour exploration, classification, fine-motor colouring and discussion of van Gogh's artwork.

PRINTING & PREPARATION

Print cards on bright white cardstock (65 lb or heavier) and cut along grey dotted lines. Colouring pages can be printed on regular paper; optional colour tiles are a separate material.
