Pink Series CVC Bingo | Short U – Cursive
Give early readers a lively way to practice decoding short-u CVC words with this Montessori Pink Series Bingo game in cursive. The game is designed for mixed reading confidence: children can begin by listening and identifying pictured words, then progress to recognizing and reading written words. Real photographs make vocabulary meaningful while familiar Bingo rules keep repeated short-vowel practice engaging.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
• 18 Bingo playing cards featuring nine short-u words: 9 picture-based boards and 9 word-based boards.
• 18 matching caller cards: 9 image calling cards and 9 word calling cards.
• Instructions for two flexible ways to play and an additional word-to-picture matching option.
HOW TO USE
Choose the picture or printed-word boards to suit the players. Familiarize children with the nine words and their images, then select the appropriate caller deck. The caller names a picture or reads the CVC word; each child locates the matching word or picture and covers the square with a marker. Mark three in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line to call “Bingo!” For added practice, have children sound out each written word before marking it, or match the two decks of calling cards as a separate activity.
SKILLS SUPPORTED
Short-u vowel recognition; three-sound blending; CVC decoding; spoken-word and print matching; visual scanning; listening, turn taking and working memory.
PRINTING & PREPARATION
Print the preferred Bingo and caller cards on cardstock, cut along the marked lines and provide reusable counters or markers. Select one short-vowel set at a time; no special classroom equipment is needed.
The two playing-board formats feature corresponding layouts: choose different board arrangements when several children play together.
