HOW TO USE

Print and cut the puzzles along the dotted lines. Offer a handful of letter pairs on a tray, with their pieces mixed; ask children to identify the capitals and lowercase letters, join the matching pieces, and name the fruit-and-vegetable pictures. For Xx, discuss words with the /ks/ sound at the end rather than presenting an initial X sound as typical English phonics. Gradually increase the number of letters or invite a partner to choose a puzzle for the other child to assemble. Keep the control posters accessible for independent reference and self-correction. Use for literacy centres, Montessori-style alphabet shelves, small groups or seasonal vocabulary conversations.
